Spring Retreat Testimonies 2019
This year’s Spring Retreat focused on “Finding the Holy Place” and asked our college and young adults to consider what God has done in us by separating us from the world. How do we cultivate holiness? Do we truly hate sin? In what ways to we make room for sin in our life, impeding God’s blessing? These testimonies are the evidence of God’s work in our ministry.
Eternal Security
Living in fear of losing your salvation and relationship with God is placing ourselves back into the bondage that he set us free from on the cross. We do not have to fear losing our salvation, and the reason why is simple: God tells us so in his word.
Kenna: Impact of Discipleship
It’s not always our job to reveal things to our disciple. It’s the Lord’s job.
My Own Stiff Neck: Applications from Acts
"In pride our necks become stiff, and a life of sanctification becomes a life of religious compromise that is by its very nature resistant to the work of the Spirit dwelling inside us."
A Lesson on Waiting: Applications from Acts
If we are “waiting on the Lord” in any area of our lives, then we need to pursue actions that support that. If we are waiting on the Lord for a job, then we need to start applying. If we are waiting on the Lord for a wife or husband, then we need to first start maturing in a relationship with Him. If we are waiting on the Lord to be sent, than we need to start serving where we are.
Sarannah: The Impact of Discipleship
At the time, I was making a habit of measuring the success of my own personal relationship with the Lord by what other individuals at church thought of me.
An Obedient Life: Lessons from an 8-Hour Train Ride to Visakhapatnam
"That which must fuel all other preaching in our lives is the preaching of an obedient life."
Jaclyn: The Impact of Discipleship
Discipleship drew me closer to the Lord, led me to know the him through obedience to His word, taught me to walk in the Spirit, allowed me to see myself as a necessary member in the local church body, and held me accountable to surrender my life to live out God’s mission.
Why You Should Be Using a Wide-Margin Bible
Per their namesake, wide-margin Bibles have more space around the text for you to write notes. They also are typically more expensive than their digital and regular-margin counterparts. So is the ability to write in your Bible worth the investment (and heft)?
Montana: The Impact of Discipleship
But his persistence paid off. I know he prayed for me and I know he pulled other men into those prayers. The demonstration of God’s grace in my life was found in discipleship. And in that demonstration of grace, I found what I had been looking for my whole life.
C&YA Fall Retreat 2018
This years retreat was incredibly refreshing yet challenging. We took some time to hear what God did in the lives of several of our C&YA members. Take some time to listen to the messages from Pastor Tony Godfrey & Pastor Brandon Briscoe.
Lauren: The Impact of Discipleship
I cried to the Lord on the drive to church. I probably looked like a crazy person, but that’s okay because I was desperate for truth, for protection, for love. I didn’t know where to get it. But that day, I asked God to do whatever He wanted with my life because I couldn’t be in control of it anymore.z
Why You Don’t Understand Yourself
Millennials (and generations following) don't understand themselves. They are searching, aching for self-discovery and self-transformation. They don't see how the pendulum swung in a rejection of truth, when it was not truth's defect at all.
Ediban: The Impact of Discipleship
Because of discipleship, I am no longer playing Christian; I am a Christian.
Lessons on life and discipleship from the church at Thessalonica
It is only because the Thessalonians had all three of these qualities that they were so effective for God’s mission. They were fully surrendered, completely in love with their saviour. If we desire to live rightly before God and fulfill his mission, our lives must also be drenched in true faith, love, and hope.
