Thomas believed when he saw the risen Christ—but Jesus pronounced a blessing upon those who would believe without seeing. In John 20–21, we discover that biblical faith is not wishful thinking, blind optimism, or confidence in ourselves. It is resting the full weight of our convictions upon what God has said. And when that faith moves from belief to obedience, it produces fruitfulness that human effort alone never could.
