Acts 8:14-24

A continuation on our story of Simon the Sorcerer who believed he could place of financial value on divine things. This passage teaches us a lot about our sinful temptation to look for personal gain in our spiritual lives. We also conduct an overview of the changes in the reception of the Holy Spirit in Acts.

Acts 8:9-24

In Acts 8:9 we meet Simon the Sorcerer, a man used to subvert the salvation of the Samaritan people. Often times we will encounter those who interfere with or even counterfeit true spirituality causing distractions in ministry. How do we guard against this kind of work and more importantly, how do we guard our hearts from becoming subverters ourselves?

Acts 8:3-8

This this second message that introduces us to the persecution of the early church, when Christians scattered with the gospel on their lips. They did not allow their circumstances to steal their message, in fact their circumstances were nothing more than opportunity to speak Christ!

Acts 8:1-3

After Stephen's death the church in Jerusalem enters an increasingly hostile ministry environment. People begin to scatter into the surrounding regions taking the gospel with them. In this message we consider a series of significant principles about hope, persecution and spiritual warfare.

Acts 7:14-60

In this study of Stephen's history lesson to the Jewish rulers, we have learned how Abraham had a relationship with God without a temple and we have seen how Joseph was rejected but God still used him to redeem his people and the whole world. In this study we learn about Moses: his heart & his identity. We also see the religious leaders exposed for who they truly are.

Acts 7:1-14

We have been studying the powerful message of Stephen preached in opposition to the religious rulers accusations against him. Last week we learned how Abraham followed by faith and by word, exposing the religious rulers inability to see God outside of the law and the temple. This week we learn about the life of Joseph, his rejection and the salvation that he brought to the world.

Acts 6:8- 7:7

Last week we were introduced to Stephen, a deacon in the church and a man of great wisdom. His power was his great faith that invited the Holy Spirit to speak mightily through him. In this message we find the Jewish people stirred up against Stephen, making accusations against him. Here we see Stephen respond with great clarity and peace in the midst of temptation - - a testimony to us of who we ought to be as ministers of the gospel.

Acts 7

This week, Pastor Brandon walks through some of the major points in our study of the Acts of the Apostles. We see how God has been moving in the early church and the persecution that followed. These elements come to a head with the story of Stephen, a testimony of true faith.

Acts 6:1-7

In this passage we find the early church dealing with perceived needs of their growing congregation. We learn from the apostles what it means to meet the needs of the flock while prioritizing what God prioritizes. Learn how the apostles dealt with their leadership void and the value of a biblical approach.

Acts 5:12-25

Last week we looked at what it meant to live an unsafe gospel life, one unafraid of risk. This week we look to the apostles as a testimony of faith that is unwavering. We ought to obey God rather than men!

Acts 5:12-25

The lost world has an obsession with safety, which is an aversion to difficulty, conflict, suffering, and pain. This culture of safety-ism has impacted God's people by producing complacent Christians, unwilling to take risks in faith. Acts 5 shows us a young church, willing to put its safety on the line for the sake of God's glory.

Acts 4:33-5:11

Here we see the church growing in numbers but also growing in strength. So often in churches today physical growth results in accommodations and compromises that eventually dilute the mission. What can we learn from these early believers to help us through times of transition? We also find two testimonies of giving: The Patron & The Impostors. What might we be holding back from God? Are we in danger of hypocrisy?

Acts 4:21-32

On the heals of oppression from the religious rulers the apostles return to their friends where a prayer meeting ensues. The early believers teach us great things from their prayer lives. What value does corporate prayer have? What should the content of our prayers be when the church comes together? What do we pray in times of ministry crisis and oppression?

Acts 4:1-23

There is so much fear and anxiety in our world today. So many Christians in our world are hindered in their witness because they are afraid of cultural rejection and retribution. For the Christian, fear is the fabrication of lies that call us to question the authority of God. The apostles Peter and John teach us in Acts 4 how to be bold and face rejection with joy and confidence in Christ.

Acts 3

Acts chapter 3 is a testimony of what happens when the followers of Christ are sensitive to God's leading. When we begin to get God's heart we begin to see those "certain people" who would otherwise blend in to our busy lives. What can God do when we are intentional to seek souls?

Acts 2:14-41

In our last study 3,000 people came to saving faith after powerful message was preached by the Apostle Peter. Now we find those believers in fellowship, living in the simplicity of what they are learning. Today's study calls us to consider, what are we personally doing to promote or hinder the fellowship that God is calling us to?

Acts 4:14-41

In this portion of the passage we find Peter presenting a gospel message that leads to the salvation of 3,000 people in Jerusalem. In his message we learn some basic principles about how to share our faith in Christ with other people. What are the important elements of a gospel message?

Acts 2:12-41

In this message we analyze Peter's response to a doubting crowd of religious people. What can we learn from the doctrinal and historical nuances of Peter's message? What can we learn about an effective gospel message?

Acts 2:1-14

This week we are introduced to the Holy Spirit as an intimate friend to the New Testament believer. We learn the unique story of his coming and the powerful implications for the church.
